How can we help the little ones with number concept?
It is so important for the students to incorporate art into their learning experiences!
I started doing this fun and creative  number activity  last year:

Number 5-"Once upon a time I was playing at home"
( Una vez  estaba jugando en casa)
Number 5- "I am taking my Kitty to the Park"
( Estoy llevando mi gatito al Parque)
This year  I extended the activity to create a Creative Number book, in witch each student will create a page of the book for every number from 1 to 9.
To complete each number page , each child take as many shapes as the number we are learning, and create a collage. When they finish their art work, they explain their work, and they can present it to their friends.
It is very easy  to prepare the materials for this station. I cut some of the shapes, but I also collect the extra shapes left  from different activities we do in the class, Recycling is great!
Number 8- "The Little fish is eating"
( El pecesito esta comiendo)
Number 9- "I am eating chocolate and watching
a movie in my phone"
( Yo estoy comiendo chocolate y mirando
una pelicula en mi telefono)
It is amazing how this activity help my kids with number concept, and develop their creativity . I love to see them have fun and come up with great ideas!
I would love to know if it works for your class!!

Alphabet activities for the school year

Ready for a successful school year?
If you are looking for  great activities and workstations for Pre-K and beginning of Kindergarten, I think these 2 bundles can help you.

Some teachers asked me what are the differences  between both.
There are different ABC workstations and activities in each Bundle. Both have books and alphabet graphs for each letter, and also different workstations for independent work or to use as a tool for small group instruction.
Bundle 1
The alphabet books have creative covers for the students to make, and they will trace, draw , color, and look for each letter to complete this activity
Alphabet graphs the students color creative letter graphs, and  will sort the pictures to paste in the correspondent column : Begin with the letter/ Does not Begin with the letter…(at the end of the year I combine all the alphabet graphs into a book for the students to take home and review with their families)
Bundle 2
The books are flip books, the students will create small pictures using shapes , look for the letter, trace and write the letter.
The Alphabet Graphs each letter graph is designed as a craftivity.
If you check the preview of the Workstations you will have a better idea of the activities. I use them all in my class.
I usually alternate every other year the books and graphs from Bundle 1 and Bundle 2, since I have students who come back to my class 2 years in a row.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Spring is here!
Time to review  Shapes and ABC Patterns with this fun activity with my Pre-K students!!!

Tuesday, March 5, 2019

This week my Pre-K class is working in a super fun activity: " Number Collage"
Each student choose different shapes from the tray, and combine them to create  the Collage, count how many shapes were needed, and add in the journal a picture of  his or her creation, and the number of shapes that were used .
I am so proud of my students! They are doing an amazing job!!
Little secret: The shapes they are using are extras I always save from different activities through the year, this make this activity so much easy to prepare!!
